A day in Kiki house starts slow in the morning. Unlike many people in Tokyo who are busy working for several jobs, here you’ll meet freelance artists and ex-pat travelers who often work remotely and enjoy the quiet, relaxation, and green living.

The area “Ogikubo”, where Kiki is locating, has many illustration companies that create anime and video games, no wonder why we have young and creative housemates! 

ZERO WASTE HOUSE in 2020

The house manager is a sustainable living advocate, and she’s been working on making home compost at the house. We’re currently looking for a housemate to pursure together to make the KIKI house the first zero waste sharehouse in Tokyo.

If you’re interested in learning the Japanese way of shopping/cooking sustainably and sharing with us what you know to live waste-free, please come to this house! 

Area

At the Ogikubo area, you’ll see lots of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and shopping centers, including a Seiyu, hundred yen shops, and various fresh vegetable shops on the way from the station.

There are many supermarkets and shops like Seiyu, Lumine, or Donkihote along the way to Ogikubo station. There is also a busy shopping street with a diversity of restaurants, drug stores, fashion shops,… If you’d rather explore a cute cafe or shops, it is recommended exploring “Nishi Ogikubo” which means West Ogikubo, only one station away or 15mins by bicycle from home. There’s a lot of small, individual cafes, bakeries, restaurants, shops, and a co-working space, etc. which is worth a hangout!

The surrounding area is a quiet and calm residential area, considering it as a house for adults who want to get away from the noisy life. Not so far to the main of the city, but Kiki brings peace of mind. There is a convenience store and a supermarket within a 7-minute walk.

House

You’ll love this house if you would like to have a spacious and comfy living room, suitable for either having friends coming to the house, or spending silence time to soak up some sun on the balcony. Usually, we have illustrators, young professionals, travelers, and animals living together in harmony.

Kiki house has a very botanical garden, connecting to the living room. This garden is perfect for having a BBQ party, and providing fresh air for a whole ground floor. There are bathrooms and lavatories on both floors.
Most of our housemates are independent adults, who respect personal space but also enjoy sharing whenever possible.

Community

There are many freelance artists, musicians, young professionals, and overseas residents who work remotely. In late mornings , we often get together in the livingroom and enjoy interesting conversations before headin to work. Everyone is very conscious of taking care of the house. The distribution of cleaning tasks is discussed and the house is keeping cleaned by every housemate.

It is a relaxed atmosphere where people unwind, talk with other residents, drink, BBQ, teach English and Japanese, read books, work, etc. It’s the perfect home for adults and animals who want to live peacefully. You are invited! 😉
